This variety of rice, 'Ambemohar' gets its name because of its fragrance resembling that of mango blossoms. The name is derived from the Marathi language where 'ambe' means mango and 'mohor' means blossoms. It is a short grain rice type grown in the Western state of Maharashtra in India. Rice made from this is typically sticky and fragrant and complements Indian curry or dal (lentil soup).
